Student Information Pack

First-year international students must take Turkish Preparation Class before they start Foreign Language Preparation class.

Students of English Language Education, English Language Literature, Japanese Language Teaching, International Relations (Faculty of Environmental Sciences), Environmental Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biology, Business Administration (Faculty of Political Sciences) must take Foreign Language Preparation Class at least for a semester. When they complete the Turkish Preparation Class successfuly, they must write a petition to enroll in Foreign Language Preparation Class or to take OMU Foreign Language Exemption Exam.

If they hava a valid score from COMU Foreign Language Exemption Exam, TOEFL, PTE or YDS (Foreing Language Exam in Turkey held by Student Placement Center - OSYM), they can be excempt from Foreign Language Preparation class.

Departments with Compulsory Foreign Language Preparatory Program and Exemption Criteria

English Language Education, English Language Literature

Level: Minimum CEFR B2 (Upper Intermediate Level)

Score: At least 70

English Language Teaching and English Language Literature Preparatory program start foreign language education at B1 (intermediate level) level. Successful completion of the program requires at least B2 (upper-intermediate) level English.

International Relations, Environmental Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics (100% English)

Level: Minimum CEFR B1 (Intermediate Level)

Score: At least 70

Students of departments above start from A1 (Beginner) level. Successful completion of the program requires at least B1 (intermediate) level English.

Biology, Business Departments (30% English)

Level: Minimum CEFR B1 (Intermediate Level)

Score: At least 60

Students of departments above start from A1 (Beginner) level. Successful completion of the program requires at least B1 (intermediate) level English.
