Attendance Policy

  • In the preparatory program, students are required to attend 85% of the classes during the semester education. Students who fail to meet this requirement are considered unsuccessful in the preparatory program. These students may participate in the foreign language proficiency exam to be held at the beginning of the following academic year. If they also fail this exam, they must continue attending classes next year.
  • Example: In a 20-hour course offered by the Preparatory Program, students can have up to 39 hours of absenteeism (per semester). Students with 40 or more hours of absenteeism will be considered unsuccessful. (20 Hours × 13 Weeks = 260 Hours of classes, 15% × 260 = 39)
  • As preparatory education is a one-year program, students who have excessive absenteeism at the end of the first semester cannot continue in the preparatory program for the second semester.
  • Absenteeism in the preparatory class is evaluated based on the total number of absenteeism hours for all classes, not on a per-class basis.
  • Course attendance is monitored through signatures on attendance sheets provided by the instructors for each class hour. Students who do not sign the attendance sheet during the relevant class hour will be considered absent from that class. It is the student’s responsibility to follow and sign the attendance sheet presented by the instructor during the class hour. Students who do not sign the sheet on the day of the class cannot sign it later.
