Mandatory Foreign Language Course (YDİ-1001) Exemption Exam

The exemption exam for the Mandatory Foreign Language Course (YDİ-1001) for first-year students newly enrolled in our university for the 2023-2024 academic year will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

This exam will be conducted in person at 14:00 for the morning session and 16:00 for the evening session in all schools in the city centre and districts.

Students will take the exam in the classroom announced by their department at their registered school. Candidates arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to the exam. During the first 30 minutes, students cannot leave the exam room. The exam consists of two separate tests. Based on the results of the two separate tests, students who score 60 or above out of 100 for both the Fall and Spring Semesters will be exempt from this course, and their grades will be recorded as "Mandatory Foreign Language" on their transcripts. The exam will include identity verification, and marking your group on the optical form is crucial. The exam consists of 25 questions from the first semester and 25 from the second semester, totalling 50. The exam is at the A1 beginner level and is a multiple-choice test with four options. Getting an answer wrong will not affect the score. Students who score 60 or above out of the first 25 questions will be considered successful and exempt from the "Mandatory Foreign Language I" course in the first semester. Students who score 60 or above out of the last 25 questions will be considered successful and exempt from the "Mandatory Foreign Language II" course in the second semester. Exemption exam results will be entered into the system by the department's student affairs office. Students who do not pass the exemption exam (score below 60) will be automatically enrolled in the course. Students who have passed the exemption exam but wish to improve their score can request the cancellation of their Fall and/or Spring semester grades after the results are announced and submit a written request indicating their desire to take the Fall and/or Spring semester course. In this case, students who have passed the exemption exam but have cancelled their grades will need to register for the "Mandatory Foreign Language" courses to be held online. All students who are required to take the course must follow the announcements on their department's website and those made by the course instructor through Microsoft Teams. We wish success to all students taking the exam.

NOTE: The exemption exam does not apply to students who have previously taken this exam and/or have taken the course for 1 or 2 semesters but did not pass. Students who have not passed the course must take the exams that will be held during the semester.
